i dream in cream

Harper's Bazaar August 2008

I just discovered the most perfect ice cream ever known to woman:
Starbucks Caramel Macchiato.
Sinful.

Unfortunately, this isn't that particular ice cream, but I think it still looks pretty delicious.

Then I decided that since tomorrow is May 1st, I better start my "look good for summer" diet. Not really a diet but whatever. It will probably last all of 2 days.
Typical girl.

Below is my desired vacation look: Whimsical, light, and definitely perfect for floating around cute little shops by the beach. I say that like I'm talking about a specific location, but really I'm not. I just love vacation.
But I hate. packing.

you go, charlotte russe

I kinda like the cheapies better than the Fendis.

?!

Comfort may be another story, but we've all endured a little pain for the sake of fashion (and our wallets), haven't we?

gone with the wind

Wearing a long skirt is incredibly liberating. At least I think so. Here's why:
-You're super comfy.
-You don't have to worry about coverage issues.
-You can twirl around endlessly.
-You can romp through meadows with flowers in your hair.

-You can rock it effortlessly like Kate here:

-You can search for shells on a windy beach (or just stand there):

Here's what I'd like to do with one:

Speaking of shiny...I love this chapstick from C.O. Bigelow.
Perfect shimmer + good vitamins and stuff for your lips. And minty fresh.

lighten up

Harper's Bazaar August 08

In junior high and high school I went through a pastel phase. First, it was baby blue walls and comforters. Then I grew out of light blue and graduated to lavender. Curtains, comforters and candles...my room was perfectly coordinated. And my favorite shirts were a light pink one and a light purple one.
THEN, I grew out of that and developed a sort of aversion to pastels, not allowing them into my closet or any of my decor. It was all about the earth tones at that point.

I guess I have come full circle, because my current relationship with pastel is very healthy...I can't help but love the soft cheery innocence they evoke. Pastels are ultra feminine, refreshing and perfect for spring. And I think it's about time we embrace our 'girly' roots and brighten up our wardrobes a little.

desired summer uniform

Topshop at ShopStyle

Tank - Elizabeth and James
Shorts - Topshop
Earrings - Topshop
Bag - Express
Shoes - Kurt Geiger

I'm sad the bag is sold out. Really really sad.

I made an earring. It's wild. And it might be ugly. But I like it anyway...and that probably has a lot to do with the fact that I spent so much time on it.

your tag is showing

Was tagged by lovely Jo :

What is your current obsession?
Folksy/bluesy music.
Baking.
Sneakers.

What is your weirdest obsession?
Lychee. Yummmm.

What are you wearing today?
Right now it's a big old holey t-shirt and some bloomers. Ha. Today's my day off and I haven't gotten dressed yet.

Why is today special?
Because it's my day off.

What would you like to learn to do?
Cook better and play golf. But not at the same time.

What’s for dinner today?
I don't know yet. Maybe leftover Pad Thai.

What’s the last thing you bought?
Gigantic silver hoop earrings from H&M. I'm actually thinking of taking them back because every time I put them on I decide not to wear them because they are so obnoxiously shiny and huge.

What are you listening to right now?
Love Me by the The Little Willies. I have fallen in love with them.

What is your favorite weather?
Lazy sunny weather, anywhere upwards of 65 degrees.

What is your most challenging goal right now?
Finding a career path that I love. It's not challenging to find something that I love to do, but narrowing down my many loves and picking one to pursue is hard.

What do you think about the person who tagged you?
She is ambitious and funny, and I'm glad to know her. :)

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
FRANCE.

Favorite vacation spot?
Of places I've actually been to? Phi-Phi island, Thailand. I long to go back.

What would you like to have in your hands right now?
Well I have a piece of mango in my hands and that is making me pretty happy. But other than that? I guess it would be a check for a large sum of money. Selfish huh.

What would you like to get rid of?
A couple pounds.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
For only an hour? I guess it would be to see my sisters in California. But that's not enough time.

Which language do you want to learn?
I don't know, I guess french, since I want to go there so badly.

What did you dream of last night?
I had a weird dream. I don't think I will share.

Who do you want to meet in person?
Maybe Rachel Zoe. I have some questions for her...

One thing that you would snitch out of someone’s closet, with no regrets?
These babies:

But I would still probably feel bad for taking them.

What’s the favorite piece of clothing in your own closet?
Hm. It's hard to pick a favorite. I guess it would be my Vera Wang LBD that I fiiinally got tailored to fit me just right. Now I have to find an occasion to wear it.
I also love my long black Richard Chai cardi. I can throw it on with anything.

What is your dream job?
There are many. But the top three (in no particular order) would probably be: Buyer, Personal stylist/shopper, Freelance fashion writer.

If you had £100 now what would you spend it on?
Maybe these :

Is it getting too obvious that I'm obsessed with shoes?

Fashion pet peeve?
Dresses worn over jeans. Just pick one.
Also, what I like to call cookie-cutter dressing- e.g. denim mini + leggings + Uggs. No thank you.

Do you admire anyones style?
Absolutely! Audrey, Jackie O, Edie....Nicole Richie, Kate Moss, Sasha Pivovarova, Alexa Chung...

Describe your personal style:
It changes on a day to day basis. One day it'll be classic, the next day bohemian, then urban....it's whatever suits my mood or whatever strikes me as unique.

Okay, here's the rules:

1. Respond and rework: answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.

2. Tag eight other people.

And here's my tag-ees:

Trisch
Mo
Cuz I'm Crazy
Lainey
Daniella
Vanessa's Runway
Elizabeth
Alexia

Have fun, girls!

silver lining

I've recently come to the realization that I like shiny silver things. And I'm not just talking about quarters. As made obvious by my "lust" on the sidebar, I've become smitten with clothing/maybe shoes that glow with the perfect subtle silver sheen. But is has to be done just right. Not gaudy or too shiny, not cheap or aluminum foil-esque tacky. Hm, it's hard to explain so I will stop.

Don't know where this came from.

I kind of want short little french-looking bangs, but I'm worried I can't rock them as well as Audrey. I don't have the cute pixie haircut, nor do I have the stunning exotic beauty. And I might end up looking like a little boy. But hmm...I still kind of want to.

Decisions.

It's Friday. Hey hey hey.
Happy weekend!

the unique

I adore the fact that Sasha doesn't fit into any "fashion mold." There are so many girls out there that can be categorized, that all follow the same fashion rules, that strictly adhere to wearing the current trendy looks or hot items. Some looks just get tired, you know? That's why I find it so refreshing to see this. She threw on a bunch of stuff that is unique to her taste, and wouldn't you know it she looks incredible. No cookie cutter here.
