Dress-Marc by Marc Jacobs,

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. I'm pretty excited. If only I could have one of these dresses to wear for Christmas...

Current favorite Christmas song: "O Tannenbaum" by the Vince Guaraldi Trio (from a Charlie Brown Christmas).
Jazz piano just makes me so happy.

"hot" pocket

It was a balmy 50 degrees today, so I broke out the lace leggings. And tomorrow it's going back down to like 17. No kidding. Just a little pocket of warmth to enjoy today...

Yesterday I did a "closet cleanse," which is to say I organized it and got rid of stuff I'm tired of. It's pretty invigorating, and also great for finding things that you actually want to wear again. (Like the above blue dress). Maybe my newly organized closet will help me with my daily problem of blankly standing in front of my closet thinking, "I have nothing to wear."

...No, it probably won't.

first snow

Yesterday it snowed all day long, but not so much that big fluffy snow, just the wet messy stuff that didn't really accumulate much. Still, it's snow, and you can't beat that little-kid feeling inside when you wake up and look out the window and the world is white. AND, we just put up our christmas tree and i am stupid happy about it. What is it about a pretty tree with lights and stuff on it that makes your home just 10 times more cozy? I wanted to take a picture and post it (because I'm a dork), but the photo can't really capture it, so you'll just have to believe me that it's good. I'm pretty excited about christmas. Obviously.

Wearing an Urban Outfitters vest and earrings, American Eagle shirt, Target Leggings, and secondhand boots.

Also, I got this candle I'm crazy about, and it could quite possibly make your holidays better if you buy it. It's from Target and the scent is called Balsam Cedarwood, and the brand is Snowfall Splendor. It's what winter should smell like.

hot list: symbols

Each era has it's symbols. Like poodles in the '50's or butterflies in the Mariah Carey era, we've got certain images that seem to be showing up everywhere these days. I've selected a few:

1. Bows.
Not just real ribbon ones, but bows that are actually printed on your shirt. No tying necessary.

2. Anchors.

3. Geometric snowflake prints.
Just don't get too Eddie Bauer with it.

4. Westies.
Radley uses these cute little pups on everything. It is their logo, after all.

too bad it gets dark at 4:30 now

And here is another blazer. I do love finding blazers at the thrift store. The only problem is that they often involve massive shoulder pads, since they are usually from times past. I for one do not prefer the linebacker look, so I remove them. The shoulder pads in this particular blazer would not leave without a fight though...and after I wrestled them out I decided I should document their enormity:

I found those fantastic chairs in the alley. It was quite the task lugging them home though, since they wouldn't fit in my car. I'm pretty sure I looked ridiculous trying to juggle two awkward-to-carry chairs, but I was so happy with them that I didn't really care.

Happy Thanksgiving!! Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. I'm very excited about it. I get to see my whole entire family, and that occurs maybe once a year. Also, there happens to be food involved, and that's always a plus.

purple pop

Still trying to decide if I should remove those silly beads from my shoes. I got them for like 4 bucks at Old navy so I didn't really care if there were beads or not, cause when some shoes are 4 dollars, you buy them. Well I do. And surprise surprise, they're extremely comfortable!

currently craving

1. Wellies.
And not the cheap looking cutesie pattern kind. I want the real thing, like these Hunter ones.

2. Glasses sort of like these ones by American Apparel. Nerd-inspired and so cool.

3. Lots of different kinds of tights.

4. That perfect shade of purple nailpolish. Still looking. Any suggestions? I want a rich and vibrant deep purple, but something that doesn't look practically black when it dries. And preferably not anything that is sparkly or shimmery. See I think I may be too picky about this.

5. Bangs. Soon.

6. Strangely, leather. Haven't bought anything leather yet, but there is something about it that has peaked my interest. Never been much for it in the past but I may be warming up to the idea. But not all leather. It has to be done just right. Doesn't this dress by Angelokatsapis look delicious to wear?

Also have been trying to hold out for this leather couch. I'm desperate for it to go on sale. Like on massive clearance.

7. Jewel tones. Vibrant blues, deep purples...there's even some hot pink that's looking good. For example:

Stole that picture off of the always cool Sex and Coffee..

rain all day and i don't mind

Apparently I was fascinated with the ground in most of these pictures. Or I was trying to keep the rain out of my face. Oh, and the title of this post is a line from one of my favorite songs in the world...Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson. Love Jack.

Hoodie by Lulumari, (got it at some store in Saugatuck), Shorts-F21, Boots-secondhand, necklace-F21, tights-I don't know.

I've decided that I need to get me some good tights. I always tend to buy random cheap ones that end up with the crotch halfway down my thighs and me waddling like I need to pee. These ones are the only ones I have that actually work normally.

november?

It's election day. Happy voting! (whatever that means) It's also probably the last nice day of the year...by nice I mean warm. I can't believe it's actually November with these 70-degree days. I dug up some old jeans and took the seam ripper to them. It was fun. I'm not quite this bold with it yet though...I only made a shy attempt.

delectables

I drool over that look on the top left by Ralph Lauren. Cool slouchy red and black plaid shirt AND flouncy feather skirt? Pure bliss.

It's hair like this that makes me just want to abandon my growing-my-hair-long-again efforts. Gaahhh it's so gorgeous. Why can't I just be patient? I think I need to go eat some gelatin or something. That's what you're supposed to do to make your hair grow, right?

losing light

Joseph got home yesterday, and I'm already making him take pictures of me. He informed me that at this time (when we were taking pictures) next week, it will be dark already. Sad thought. So we took advantage of the gorgeous day and the waning light, and took "goodbye baseball" pictures. Well not really. But now that I see all the pictures I think it looks like we were aiming for something like that.

My hair looks quite red in these pictures. It's not. It's also in this weird flipping out stage. ugh. At least it's growing.

Dress and boots-thrifted, Fur jacket, Platania (I don't know, it was a gift so I'm just reading what the label said), bracelets-H&M.
