I believe that one of the easiest ways to boost your confidence is by wearing sexy underthings. It doesn't matter if anyone is going to see it or not...just knowing it is there will put that extra spring in your step. It's your little secret.

Here's some goodies from figleaves:

sigh

I just stumbled upon this picture and found myself instantly obsessed with the look. And wouldn't you know it, that scrumptious blazer AND skirt are 3.1 Phillip Lim. Why am I not surprised. Ha, that skirt was even my "Lustworthy Item of the Week" last week.

Also...the shoes are Marni, the white top is by Acne, and necklace is Richard Nicoll for Erikson Beamon.

I'm going to go ahead and blame the boring title for this post on the fact that I am slightly under the weather with a fever and therefore do not feel like thinking up clever things.

I am so smitten by headscarf thing. It's generally seen on women over the age of 65, but leave it to this chick to make it look so incredibly cool that we must once again raid our grandmother's closets.

Hats are hot.

lim, i love you

I was going to do a compilation of some of my favorite runway looks from fall 09, but as I clicked through Phillip Lim's collection and found myself consistently gaping, I decided that I must dedicate one post entirely to him. There is so much to inspire. I narrowed down my favorites to these...eleven.

Everything hangs/drapes/slouches perfectly.

Picture #1: The most fantastic layering.
Picture #6 and #7: Fur and ruffles. 'Nuff said.
Picture #8: Please oh please can I have that sweater.
Picture #9: Lacy tights under an industrial looking jumpsuit? Genius.
Picture #10: I die.

Plus, all the shoes are divine, and I am now convinced I need burgundy tights.

show me what you're workin with

I was tagged by darling Hippie Frou Frou to "Show off your blog workspace". So here it is ya'll!

-We are in desssperate need of new couches. We needed something to sit on when we moved in and so we got a good deal on these pieces of crap. They have stuck around for 2 years and it's time for us to bid adieu to them.
-On occasion I enjoy having a glass of wine when I get home from work, just to relax a bit, and today seemed appropriate cause it's FRIDAY!
-I noticed that Hippie Frou Frou and I have the same computer! (I think). Holla!
-Nothing much else here of note, just the book I have been reading (My French Life by the wonderful Vicki Archer) and an Anthropologie catalog (it's pretty apparent I have a love affair with the place).

And I tag Brooke, Connie, and Paulistana Angelena. Show us where the magic happens, girls! :)
xoxo

Have an absolutely lovely weekend.

i see you

A lovely day of shopping and meandering around Geneva with a friend led to...
-me buying more home accents to fuel my current obsession with decor. I just couldn't pass up the tarnished silver candlesticks and the darling vintage bench...
-these spur-of-the-moment outfit pictures in an Anthro dressing room. I don't know.
-two girls trying on loads (pounds) of overly sequined-and-beaded ugly 80's dresses in one tiny dressing room. Tiny. Not the one in the pictures.

Wearing a Gap Jacket, Urban outfitters tee, Zara beaded vest, Asos tights, secondhand boots, and really old denim shorts that I believe are from Old Navy.

I've started carrying a little sketchbook around with me, due to the fact that my mind is always swirling about with ideas, inspirations, and just things I want to remember. It relieves stress and makes me happier just knowing that I have this little book full of exciting notions. For some reason it makes me feel more put together...

Anyway...could be something fun to try if you are the list-making type.

iron and wine

Hats are my secret (not-so-secret-anymore) weapon for bad hair days, so here is my newest addition making it's second appearance. This hat is great though, it's extraordinarily soft and fuzzy, and I only wish it had a little more 'flop' to it to further the beanie effect.

Anthropologie sweater and necklace, H&M hat and white tank and gloves, Target leggings and trouser socks, Steve Madden shoes.

I was tagged by the very cute and wonderful Connie to list 6 things that make me happy. I've done a list like this for a previous tag awhile ago, but instead of repeating those 6, i think it will be much more fun to think of 6 more things that make me happy. So here goes:

1. Big band/swing music. The old style stuff, like Glenn Miller. Been listening to him a lot lately and it never fails to, well, make me happy. :)

2. Conan O'brien.

3. Lychee sherbet.

I get it at an Asian supermarket...there is nothing like it.

4. This book I just got:

It is fantastic. Grrreat pictures...maybe I will post some later, just for the fun of it.

5. Wheel of Fortune.
Someday I am going on that show...someday.

6. Tons of pillows.
Sounds weird, I know. But you know when you go to a hotel and there are a million pillows just unnecessarily stacked there on the bed to tempt you (the really soft down feather kind), and you go and sink into them and it's the best feeling in the world to be completely surrounded by fluffiness. Or maybe that's just me.

Hope everyone has a great week!

old school

I generally don't dress head to toe in one genre, so to speak, but I couldn't help myself with these suspenders. I felt like a silent film star in this outfit. And then I was listening to big band/swing music at home and reeaaally wished I could be transported back to the 1920's. Just for a bit.

Also I finally get to debut these ankle boots on here, thanks to the unseasonably warm weather we've been having. Why do I have to wait for nice weather to wear these, you may ask? They are boots, after all, and I should be able to wear them in the winter, right? No. The bottom of these suckers are smooth as a baby's bottom, causing me to look like a bumbling idiot if I try to wear them in any type of snowy or icy condition. I tried it once. Could hardly walk. Soooo...now that the balmy temps have melted away all the snow and ice...here they are.

grandma's

My Saturday consisted of a spur-of-the-moment trip down to visit my amazing Grandma who lives in the teensy little town where I grew up until the age of 10. The weather was gorrrgeous. 60 degrees. It gave me false hope of spring.

She lives on a farm where I've always enjoyed gallavanting around, thus the pictures taken by grain bins and bean fields. That also explains the semi-plain outfit and poor quality pictures...a very spontaneous photo shoot indeed.

To my childish delight, she let me take a bunch of stuff that she is getting rid of, including some fantastic brooches and beautiful platters and dishes. I tell you, stuff was just made better back then. The dishes all have amazing details that cannot be found on your typical glassware these days.

Treasures.

Wearing an Anthropologie necklace, Express jeans, Zara tee, secondhand boots, and a Liz Lange maternity sweater from Target. (not pregnant, just love the cozy huge-ness of the thing...it's probably the softest sweater I own)

gray matters

Deliciously cozy oversized gray sweaters. Good for anybody, anytime.

I love the extra long scrunchy sleeves.
The chick in the background is cool too.

And speaking of sweaters...

Probably one of my favorite pictures ever. I can't remember where it's from. I don't know him...though I kind of wish I did.
